Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) There is a strong demand on enhancing the security of Controller Area Network (CAN) known as a major in-vehicle network. CAN is designed for bus networks, in which transmitted message contains no source or destination information and thus is simply broadcast to every node in the bus. The CAN protocol itself has no supports for sender or message authentication and is, therefore, vulnerable to impersonation by adversaries which can access to the same bus. This paper describes the FPGA implementation of a novel method of preventing unauthorized data transmission and confirms that the method has enough feasibility based on theoretical and experimental evaluation.
