Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A single-mode fiber type spot-size converter is shown to be useful to achieve quasi single-mode transmission over more than one kilometer of multimode fiber By placing one at each input port of 1.2km(=100m×12 pieces)connector-spliced multimode fiber line with graded-index 62.5/50 um core, error-free transmissions at 10 Gbps are demonstrated for 60-hour(=2.5 days)period, when these two lines were connected in series, regardless of the order.
