Real-time Music Piece Identification in a Cover Performance Stream Using HMM-Based Automatic Chord Detection

Abstract(in English) This paper proposes an improved method for real-time music piece identification in a cover performance stream. The previous method performed with low accuracy because of susceptibility to acoustic feature variations. In addition, it performed with reference music segments divided by manual operation and relatively high amount of computation. Since the chord progressions is usually constant between an original song and cover performance, the proposed method detects chord progressions in a music piece automatically by HMM. It adopts a two-stage processing using an inverted index for the text level processing and ShiftCDP method for the acoustic level processing to improve performance. This method needs no manual operation for dividing the reference music pieces. We confirm feasibility of the proposed method by experiments using a coversong dataset.
