Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have been studied a Japanese Sign Language (JSL) recognition method using via-points based on the Minimum Jerk Model. In the sign language recognition, extraction of kinematic feature and expression of spatial position relations are important. The via-points representation could reproduce JSL motion efficiently and was superior as feature of motion. In the previous study, we estimated the difference of motion shape instead of spatial location since there was difference in every utterance. However, with the increase of the vocabulary, we were not able to distinguish JSL words performed by similar motions in different spaces. In this report, we investigate a via-points matching method considering the space division method based on the phoneme of JSL to distinguish the similar motion of different words.
