Fundamental Study of Flashover Phenomenon between Foil Conductors on Printed Wiring Board on ESD Test with an ESD-gun

Abstract(in English) We have investigated the flashover voltages (FOVs) between foil conductors on printed wiring board (PWB) by electrostatic discharge (ESD) induced voltage with an ESD-gun. we have investigated the applied voltage waveform between electrodes on PWB by FD-TD (Finite-difference time-domain) method. On the other hand, the discharge current waveform of an ESD-gun can be measured with a calibration target. This waveform has duration of 200 ns. In order to understand the FO phenomenon and evaluate the immunity of electronic devices against ESDs, it is important to investigate whether the FO has occurred within 200 ns or more. In this paper, we investigated the timing of FO occurring between electrodes on PWB by ESDs based on electromagnetic wave and/or flashing caution signal due to FO. As a result, it was found that, TFO showed the values from several 10 us to several 100 us in the vicinity of lower limit of VFO. T_FO was decreased with increasing applied voltage V_c
