Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We investigated the characteristics of mobile phones and their use with regard to transmission power and laterality of use hand. The purpose of this study is to collect fundamental knowledge for the exposure assessment for epidemiological study on the relationship between brain tumor and mobile phone use of the juvenile. Software modified phones (SMP) were used for data collection, which record roll angle, call time, transmission power and so on. Data were collected from 100 volunteers for one month and they indicated that right-hand use was about two thirds of total use time. Output power of 3rd generation phones was revealed to very low relative to the maximum power and output power above 10 mW was emitted only 2.19 percent of total call time. It was also suggested that output power is relatively high during commuting time presumably due to larger traffic of data transmission.
