Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, perpendicular magnetization films, which has a uniaxial magnetic anisotropy vertical to the film plane, are used as recording media of hard-disk drive (HDD) in computer system. Magnetic domain pattern of perpendicular magnetization film can be observed by a polarization microscope. However conventional halogen lamp and high-pressure mercury lamp used in the microscope system are not stable light source, since it has problems such as light fluctuation, electromagnetic noise and lamp life. On the other hand, the high-power white LED which has made great progress lately is a stable light source, and also the light intensity can be electrically modulated by sinusoidal waveform mode. From such a point of view, we introduced a white LED to our microscope system instead of halogen lamp and observed the magnetic domain pattern of a magnetic garnet film with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. Also, we developed a experimental system to measure the magnetization curve using the magnetic Faraday effect. This paper describes our method and the experimental results.
