Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Power consumption by radio transmission will increase with increased utilization and data speeds in wireless transmission in recent years. As for power consumption reduction, individual modules of RF and baseband processing have been optimized for power reduction. We consider a method to reduce power consumption by considering the total system. We calculate power consumption values for all combinations of antenna patterns and modulation scheme according to transmission distances in an OFDM system compliant to IEEE802.11n. Based on their calculations, we optimize power consumption in the wireless communication system by estimating a power consumption value at sending one packet with considering transmission rates. In the simulation, the system has reduced power consumption by the maximum of 40% by setting the lower limit of throughput values.
