Abstract(in English) | Lightness, chroma, and hue are defined as independent values each other in the CIELAB or CIELUV color spaces. However, the Helmholtz-Kohlrausch (H-K) effect---vivid colors are perceived as brighter than dull colors which have same lightness---is known. Therefore, in those color spaces, perceived lightness is increased even if chroma is only increased. In this report, the chroma enhancement method which preserves perceptual lightness is proposed considering the H-K effect. The proposed method preserves hues in an input image to keep naturalness of the image. The effectiveness of the proposed method is shown by experiments. |
