Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper presents a method for detecting guardrails and curbs by on-board stereo cameras. The proposed method employs a geometric fitting approach based on conformal geometric algebra, which can be applied to straight and curved roads in a seamless manner. This approach is extended easily to curb detection by extracting boundaries between road and sidewalk. The experimental results show that the proposed method exhibited high detection accuracy even with a low density of point cloud.
