Identification system of cancer cells using the phase measurement based on closed loop feedback control

Abstract(in English) A high precision phase measurement system based on the feed-back control is developed. In this system, we have also measured the change in optical path length while the sample is scanned across the optical axis. Advantage of this system is to require no need for phase unwrapping process that needs to measure the sample over around 2π radian. The optical path length resolution is estimated to be less than 1nm, and more than several wavelengths. In this study, we have constructed the two-dimensional phase measurement system that measure solid sample as well as the liquid sample. In the application of our system, we have quantitatively analyzed OPDI(Optical Path-length Difference Image) after measuring both normal cells and cancer cells. Experiments are presented using this technique to investigate the potential for cancer cell identification. In our preliminary expedments, cancer cells were distinguished from normal cells.
