Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Nondestructive inspection system for an outer package can of cylindrical lithium ion battery was developed using magneto-optic imaging. The cylindrical can was arranged between a magnetic garnet film and a permanent magnet, and magnetic flux leakage generated from a defect on the side of the can was optically detected by the magneto-optic effect with a CCD camera. Since it thought that the combination of the movement of a belt which touched the can and the intermittent operation of the permanent magnet enables the inspection of the whole side and the conveyance, the test apparatus was designed and manufactured in order to prove it. The validity of this composition was confirmed because the various defects were observed and distinguished.
