Color image enhancement based on histogram equalization

Abstract(in English) A novel color image enhancement method in HSI color space is proposed in this paper. If hue is changed thenthe color gets changed, thereby distorting the image. Therefore, the proposed method performs the processing to saturation andintensity while preserving hue. In color image enhancement, it is necessary to spread signal distribution to the whole of thecolor space. Thus, the histogram equalization method with considering the shape of color space is applied to intensity of theimage. On the other hand the histogram equalization with variable enhancement degree is applied to saturation of the image.In the proposed method, we can control the enhancement degree by one parameter It is easy to obtain the subjective desiredimage by adjusting the parameter. The effectiveness of our method is shown through a lot of examples.
