Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes the generalization of the direct signal control scheme and performance evaluations of two typical direct signal control schemes and a typical indirect signal control scheme. The formers are a full actuated control scheme and the ADSII u scheme. On the other hand, the latter is the traditional control scheme using cycle lengths, splits and offsets. Firstly, after systematical comparisons between direct signal control and indirect signal control, quality of input data and output decision subsystems are discussed. Next, performance comparisons are canied out in a signalized intersection and intersections. These results show that the ADSII u scheme is superior to the other schemes. Therefbre, it is shown that the advanced direct signal control scheme that uses individual vehicular location and its speed, individually and statistically processes these data, and decides signals is effective.
