Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A 60GHz millimeter-wave short range wireless system gains recent interests to realize a high speed data transfer. In order to implement the millimeter-wave system in portable devices, there is a strong demand to miniaturize the RF module. In this paper, a millimeter-wave RF module using cavity structure is investigated. To improve the design accuracy for implementing matching circuits on the inner layer, electric parameters of the board material at 60 GHz are extracted. We also analyze the performance variation due to flip-chip mounting, showing that the lumped circuits are less sensitive in terms of the frequency shift compared to the distributed circuits. The millimeter-wave module using the proposed cavity structure has been fabricated. It integrates 19 external components within 10 mm x 10 mm x 1.15 mm. The antenna gain demonstrates more than 6.5 dBi including signal feeder loss with half power beam width of 50 degree or more. The measured EVM with 1.76 Gsps ic/2-QPSK modulation is -22 dB at 10.5 dBm EIRP, achieving the requirements of the IEEE802.11ad draft standard.
