| Abstract(in English) | Research activities in speech synthesis are introduced on four topics (1)Tone control, (2)Timing control, (3)Corpus-based synthesis and (4)Communicative speech synthesis. The introductions are focused on scientific understanding of research activities in these topics together with advances in the related fields rather than the detailed engineering explanations of their contents by themselves. Through the understanding of these activities from the viewpoint of pursuing human spoken language capabilities, we try to speculate future problems in speech synthesis. The usefulness of scientific modeling is stressed on by separating control models from their driving rules and treating them independently and coherently. |
