Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Mobile wireless LANs (m-WLANs) are becoming popular. Mobile WLANs are connected to mobile access points, such as in the tethering of smartphones and terminals such as laptop PCs and other smart devices. When mobile WLANs come close to each other, the quality of services (QoS) such as the throughput of the WLANs can be degraded due to interferences and capacity sharing by the WLANs. Because IEEE802.11 has only a few channels, i.e., eleven or thirteen, mobile WLANs that share the same channels or use adjacent channels that interfere with each other experience a degradation in QoS. Although the QoS characteristics of mobile WLANs using the same channel have already been investigated, those using different channels have never been studied. The interference between mobile WLANs from adjacent channels is believed to be more significant than that between WLANs sharing the same channel. In this study, the throughput characteristics of mobile WLANs were investigated through experiments using real machines. The experiments reveal the relationship between the distance between mobile WLANs and the throughput of each WLAN in various combinations of channels used. The results were used for optimal channel assignment for densely deployed WLANs.
