Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Break arcs are generated in a DC48V and 12A resistive circuit. Silver electrical contacts are separated at constant speed. The cathode contact surface is irradiated by a blue LED. Only the image of contact surface irradiated by LED is observed by high-speed camera without the light emitted from the break arc. Simultaneously, only the break arc is also observed by another high-speed camera. Time evolutions of cathode surface morphology being eroded by the break arcs and the motion of the break arc are observed with these cameras, simultaneously. The time evolutions of cathode surface are investigated by image analysis. The time evolutions of cathode surfaces and motion of break arcs are compared. It is shown that eroded region is expanded without contacting break arc.
