Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | We are developing an application-layer multicast system based on Peer-to-Peer (P2P) technologies to efficiently distribute live content, such as TV program-related videos or live events, over the Internet. In a P2P delivery system, the construction strategy of the P2P network and the ratio of stream forwarders to all terminals greatly affect its stability and streaming capacity. The location of each terminal in the P2P network should be adjusted by considering its bandwidth capacity and the configuration of the private network where it belongs. In addition, it is necessary to take into account the abrupt termination of stream reception and forwarding by end users. Robust delivery paths are necessary to maintain stable stream relay. We developed a new P2P live streaming system that improves robustness by constructing a mesh-type network and enlarges streaming capacity by improving the use of terminals connected to high-speed broadband. This system has dedicated to live streaming of 2012 London Olympic Games. Through these trials, the effects of server load reduction and stable distribution of streaming content were proved. |
