New Indoor Navigation System for Wheelchair Using Smartphone

Abstract(in English) Recently, in order to be able to pass the handicapped person, the various support systems and tools have been developed for the disabled. However, in walking support by wheelchair to pass through the building, there is a problem of large error because the GPS signal is not easily reached in the building. This paper presents a new navigation system for the wheelchair using smartphone. In this navigation system, the sensor wheel in the wheelchair and the digital compass of the smartphone are used for calculating the current position and using the, map display possible routes of passage in a wheelchair from the current position to a destination within the building. The simulation resuls show good performance of less than 20% error.
