Abstract(in English) In this paper, we describe a new design of ultra-high-density optical fiber cable with rollable 4-fiber ribbons. New cable is composed of almost the same sheath configurations of conventional non-slotted optical cable, and containing rollable ribbon with fiber adhesive part and single-fiber part coming in turns in a longitudinal and transverse direction. In general, conventional ribbons in the interior of cable maintain the shape of landscape ribbon with fibers lying on a straight line, on the other hand this new ribbons can freely change their shapes to closest packed structure according to their physical crowded conditions in the interior. This change provides a highest fiber density and enabled drastic downsizing cable than ever. From a practical application standpoint, we put a great deal of thought into upward compatibility with conventional ribbons, and have developed new ribbon which can be handled and spliced, and so on, in the same manner as conventional ribbon.
