Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) IEEE802.11 wireless LAN rate adaptation schemes are intended to improve the communication efficiency by minimizing frame error rate, etc., and not considered the energy efficiency at the same time. In order to design adaptive controlling with energy efficiency, it is necessary to clarify the effects of relationships between the transmission rate and power consumption of wireless LAN module, and of changes in environmental conditions. In this paper, we propose a model to estimate energy efficiency of high-speed wireless LAN, which is based on a simplified model to estimate power consumption of wireless communication system. We measure power consumptions of wireless LAN module with each transmission rate and the results show the relationship between IEEE802.11n transmission efficiency and energy efficiency can be approximated by the model.
