Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The higher-speed and larger-capacity transmission is demanded in the wireless local area network (WLAN). The same wireless channel has to be reused in the WLAN due to the limited number of available wireless channels, and therefore the network capacity is limited by the co-channel interference (CCI). Recently, we applied the channel segregation based dynamic channel assignment (CS-DCA) to WLAN and showed that CS-DCA can effectively reduce the CCI level. In the WLAN, the carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidance (CSMA/CA) is used. As the traffic increases, the throughput reduces because of collision avoidance. In this paper, we introduce the multi-channel access to the WLAN using CS-DCA. In CS-DCA, each access point (AP) has the channel priority table, in which the channels are listed in order of increasing CCI level. The multi-channel access can be realized by using the channels of the first order, the second order, and below. Although the CCI level increases if multiple channels are used at the same AP, CS-DCA may be able to reduce the CCI level. We evaluate by computer simulation the impact of the multi-channel access on the channel reuse pattern formed by CS-DCA and the CCI reduction.
