Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper investigates and analyzes the performances of the combined modulation technique between non-binary APSK (amplitude-phase shift keying)and SSK (space shift keying). As generally known, non-binary symbol transmissions (e.g., T-PSK: ternary-phase shift keying, H-PSK: Hexagonal-phase shift keying, and H-QAM Hexagonal quadrature amplitude modulation) can achieve the superior performances to the binary symbol transmissions (e.g., Q-PSK or square-QAM)in terms of PAR (Peak-to-Average power Ratio)and spurious characteristics. However, in order to adapt such kind of non-binary symbol transmissions to digital (binary information) transmissions, the system needs to utilize a binary-to-non-binary converter, which leads to the conversion-loss. Recently, space-shift keying (SSK)has been proposed as the one of multiple-antenna transmission techniques. In SSK, the transmitter selects one (or more than one)antenna(s)from multiple transmission antennas according to the transmission information, while the receiver estimates the number of transmission antenna utilized at the transmitter and then can estimate the transmitted information. In this work, we combine non-binary symbol transmission and SSK and evaluate the bit error rata (BER)performances. The simulation results reveal that the proposed system with non-binary symbol transmission can achieve better performance than the conventional binary transmissions in the case of high-transmission rate.
