Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We previously proposed a method of controlling call density for achieving maximum throughput (acceptable calls/hour) in IP telephone networks (IP NWs). To control call density, it is important to continuously monitor congestion in IP NWs and to quickly and accurately detect congestion factors such as specific telephone number extensions assigned to geographical areas of Japan (number zones), e.g., "011" for Hokkaido. The problem is that early detection of the congestion factor is difficult under complicated congestion situations, such as area congestion due to disasters. To quickly and accurately detect congestion factors, we propose and evaluate a method of monitoring IP NWs. The proposed method detects the number zones as a congestion factor, and makes it possible to accurately grasp the effect of congestion control, thus, facilitating a fixed-quantity evaluation of various congestion control methods for area congestion.
