Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We propose a subunit-based Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) approach to hand gesture recognition. Conventional DTW requires the development of many prototypes to achieve proper performance because of its exemplar-based matching procedure, which leads to an expensive computational load. To solve the problem, we consider hand gestures as hand movement trajectories and share the common sub-movements (subunits) across hand gestures to obtain a smaller training data size and search space to improve recognition performance. Our experimental results show the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed approach.
