Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The basic facial expressions and the neutral face based on the FACS (Facial Action Coding System) were evaluated whether those faces fitted the 6 emotions or the neutral by the Forced Choice Task, and to what extent it fits each emotion using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS). From the comparison, the decoding processes were examined. The facial expressions of 2 Japanese females that were contained in the database DB99 by ATR, were presented to 20 female university students. In order to objectively describe facial expressions based on the AU (Action Unit), 7 emotions were measured using an expression analysis software called FaceReader created by Noldus. From the sum by the Forced Choice Task, the selectivity of emotions towards each facial expressions was calculated. Regarding the VAS, the mean of each facial expressions was calculated. As a result of the analyses based on FaceReader, Forced Choice Task, and VAS, the expressions of neutral, happiness, surprise, and anger were coded as the AU showed, and it was confirmed that the decoding was precise. On the other hand, it was suggested that the expressions of sadness, fear, and disgust were difficult expressions to express based on the AU as well as to decode.
