Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We demonstrate an InP waveguide polarization converter for polarization division multiplexed photonic integrated circuit. This device features a simple fabrication method using a self-aligned process with an angled evaporation; it is suitable for the integration with other photonic devices, especially for laser diodes. More than 96%TE/TM conversion within the wavelengths of 1510-1575nm was obtained with the length of 150μm and the excess loss of less than 1.6dB. The state of polarization of the output was also measured and the polarization state in the converter was experimentally described.
