An investigation of the influence of creating a plan on academic procrastination behavior

Abstract(in English) Students often delay to start an assignment that has a deadline. As a result, there is the risk of a decrease in the quality of the assignment, or an increase the risk of missing the deadline. We make the students create a plan for starting the assignments to prevent procrastination behavior; however, there are some students who do not start the assignments even at the planned date. Such students should be urged to start the assignments, and this study considers how to automatically detect when the students get start the assignments. We confirm the validity of detected time and find the correlation between the detected start time and the actual start time. Furthermore, this study evaluates the influence of creating a plan on procrastination behavior by comparing start time of assignments with a plan and them without a plan. There is no influence of creating a plan on procrastination according to the experimental result.
