Improvement of heart model constructing system from MR images and application to cardiac mechanics simulation

Abstract(in English) There have been many studies in which computer models were used to help the diagnosis and treatment of the cardiovascular deceases. It is mandatory to get information about a patient's heart such as shape and fiber orientation to construct a computer model. We have been developing a system to extract the heart shapes from MRI semi-automatically. However our previous system could not be used comfortably because the user interface (UI) mainly employed keyboard operations and needed many configurations by an expert user. In this study, we developed a new system in which the UI is Windows-common graphical one and accelerates automatic extraction of the heart shape. With this system, we could extract a heart shape more easily. We also performed a mechanical simulation with a computer model constructed by our system.
