Analysis of a Tab-Coupled Microstrip Ring Resonator Loaded with Open Stubs and Reexamination of Its Characteristics

Abstract(in English) In this paper, a modified structure of a tab-coupled microstrip ring resonator loaded with open stubs in proposed in order to improve its stopband performance. Based on the equivalent transmission line circuit of the resonator, the even- and odd-mode analysis of the resonator is conducted to derive formulas relating the circuit impedances and the transmission zeros, the reflection zeros, and the 3dB-bandwidth of the resonator. Design examples of a number of resonators are provided, and the results obtained by both a circuit simulator and an electromagnetic simulator verify well predictions made by the derived formulas.
