Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) There are large variations in the shape and dimensions of ear canals and these differences provide more variance in the overall transfer function from the external sound field to the eardrum than the pinna. Why has recording and reproduction of binaural material been generally unsuccessful, especially inaccuracy of placement in frontal direction? If safe, comfortable probe microphones are available, it is possible to make accurate binaural recordings. The same time, we measure the earphone response (H_E(ω)) at the right eardrum for lateralization, and measure the speaker response (H_R(ω)) at the left eardrum for localization with the same characteristic probe microphones. If we equalize the input signal X(ω) with the compensation characteristic H_R(ω)/H_E(ω) for localization, the earphone system will play back with perfect fidelity. From the compensation result, the sound image listened compensated sound by the earphone was located in the front when sounding together with opposite speaker. But the compensated sound couldn't listen perfectly like the sound from the speakers by only the earphones. It can be suggested that the compensating system proposed is effective, however the localization has occurred the state of something mismatching by comparing with the stereo loudspeaker system.
