Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes parallel seam welding technique of aluminum and copper sheets by magnetic pulse welding method and its experimental results. An impulse current from a capacitor bank passes through a flat one-turn coil while concentrating on two parallel along the narrow part of the coil. A magnetic flux is suddenly generated around the narrow part. Eddy currents are induced in the sheets which are overlapped with a gap on the narrow part. The sheets (0.2 or 0.3mm thick) can be welded to two parallel 2mm apart narrowly both by the Joule heat generated in them and by the collision effect with electromagnetic force applied to them. The bank energy required for the parallel seam welding of 50mm long is about 2.4kJ.
