Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, a D/A converter based on frequency modulation (FM) of single flux quantum (SFQ) pulse trains has been proposed for application to a new generation of ac voltage standards. In this report, we present our new design of a variable pulse number multiplier (V-PNM) of counter-forwarding type, which is the core element of an FM-SFQ D/A converter. While the multiplication of our previous m-bit variable-PNM was limited only between 2^ and 2^m, the improved operation sequence in the new circuit makes the multiplication be extended from 1 to 2^m. Test circuits were fabricated using the ISTEC Nb STP2. Correct operations of a 6-bit variable-PNM with the multiplication from 1 to 64 are demonstrated with respect to the input signal of a Multiplication Controller (MC) that is integrated on the same chip and generates a sequence of codes for the multiplication.
