Abstract(in English) | Cognitive radio spectrum management in diverse and heterogeneous cellular telecommunication environments has as a major challenge to be able to handle the large interactions and strong couplings between the different cognitive nodes and to ensure the best possible service quality in dynamic environments with moving users and changing traffic loads. Therefore, a self organizing networks (SON) approach is developed for spectrum management within the QoSMOS framework, a novel technique which simultaneously selects and optimizes the spectrum portfolios for each node according to its particular individual situation. It resolves interactions between the large number of coupled parameters about spectrum and transition power configurations, while considering external constraints, spectrum information and sensing information. The fully distributed spectrum managers predict the quality of potential candidate spectrum portfolios via fast offline calculations without the need for any direct system feedback. The thereby used prediction model is self-learningly adapting itself for each individual spectrum manager to its own particular situation. This very quickly acting approach configures and optimizes the spectrum portfolios, including their transition powers, as well as considers energy consumption aspects. System simulations on a heterogeneous scenario prove this concept, and its capabilities, characteristic effects as well as its limitations are discussed. It is a generic SON approach which can also be adapted and transferred to several other use cases. |
