Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Spectrum sensing is a key enabling technology for cognitive radios to uncover unused frequency bands. Signal quality to be sensed can plunge to a very low signal-to-noise-ratio due to signal propagation and hence readings from individual sensors will be unreliable. Cooperative sensing by using multiple sensors is one way to cope with such a problem. The diversity gain due to the combining effect of data captured at different position will assist to detect a signal that might not be detected by a single sensor. In effect, the probability of detection can be improved. To support our assertion, we have implemented a demonstration testbed with three static sensors. To emulate the different small scale fading effects observed at each position of the sensors, we used a generic wireless channel simulator. A 6MHz digital modulated signal centered at 600MHz is used as an incumbent TV signal. We have generated a base performance curves for the three sensors and also performance curves using different combining techniques for cooperative sensing algorithms. We perform hard combining using the well known Majority and OR counting rule data combining.
