Transmission Characteristics of Multi-Core Fiber (MCF) with Trench-Index Cores

Abstract(in English) By using the two-core model, we clarify the effect of the index differences of the inner cladding and trench between cores in the trench-type multi-core fiber on the crosstalk. We show that the small index difference of the inner cladding between cores can suppress the crosstalk rapidly and investigate its suitable index difference of the inner cladding. Moreover, the crosstalk, mode field diameter (MFD), and cutoff wavelength (λc) as a function of the core pitch are compared for three quasi-homogeneous MCFs including our proposed model.
