Abstract(in English) This paper deals with a wireless local area network (wireless LAN) system with Radio over Fiber (RoF), in which a telecommunication carrier directly connects to each subscriber with optical fibers and processing in the Physical (PHY) layer and the Medium Access Control (MAC) layer is done at the telecommunication carrier. This system reduces the cost of replacing the existing access point (AP) with a new one based on the new wireless communication standard. When this system is adopted, there is large propagation delay between stations (STAs) and an AP, which causes system throughput degradation of the wireless LAN with RoF. This paper shows the throughput degradation by computer simulations and the degradation mechanism. Furthermore, this paper proposes a new method, which improves the throughput degradation caused by propagation delay.
