Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In recent years, a wireless access scheme attracts attention to realize machine to machine (M2M) networks such as smart meter networks and sensor networks. One of the promising wireless access standards is the IEEE 802.11ah standard, which is based on the modified IEEE 802.11 standard. In M2M networks, an access point has to communicate with a much larger number of stations than conventional WLANs. The number of stations increases, the throughput and delay performances of systems employing the carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidance protocol are significantly degraded. To solve these problems, random arbitration inter frame space number (AIFSN) scheme, which is a scheme for enhancement of prioritization in WLAN systems, is effective. This paper shows the mechanism of the throughput improvement with the random AIFSN scheme. Furthermore, the improved performances of the M2M system are shown by computer simulations.
