Abstract(in English) An application of analog network coding (ANC) to bi-directional relay communications using hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) is an effective method to achieve efficient packet transmission. However, if the received signal-to-noise power ratio (SNR) is low, the conventional ANC relay with HARQ can hardly recover signal spectrum distorted by frequency-selective channel regardless of numbers of retransmission since the base station (BS)-RS link is non time-selective channel. In this paper, we propose a novel retransmission protocol for single-carrier (SC)-HARQ bi-directional relay communications using ANC. In the proposed scheme, the mobile terminal (MT)→BS and BS→MT direct transmissions are respectively performed in the first and the second time slot. When BS and MT cannot correctly decode a packet, RS broadcasts analog network coded packet to BS and MT in the third time slot. We evaluate, by the computer simulation, the sum throughput performance of ANC bi-directional relay communication using the proposed scheme and show the proposed scheme can achieve higher throughput compared to the conventional ANC relay, the incremental amplify-and-forward (AF) relay and cooperative AF relay.
