Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Satellite communications are expected to cope flexibly with the increased traffic load from mobile communications such as by ship and also to reduce costs. Several methods to improve the frequency efficiency by combining the orthogonal horizontal/ vertical polarizations have been studied. In this paper, to improve frequency efficiency, we propose both a non-orthogonal polarization multiplexing method which combines not necessarily orthogonal multi-polarized signals, and a multi-polarization space modulation method in which the constellation is constructed by the addition of a new polarization angle in addition to the conventional orthogonal modulation. From the bit-error-rate(BER) results of a computational simulation, we show that each proposed method can achieve greater BER performance than that of the conventional method.
