Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Low transmission loss and enlarged Aeff fibers are strongly expected for 100Gb/s and beyond transmission systems. However, an Aeff enlarged fiber has higher dissimilar splicing loss to an existing standard single mode fiber (SSMF), due to large MFD mismatching. In order to reduce the splicing loss, we will propose a Pure Silica core fiber (PSCF) having ring-core profile. With numerical studies, it is found that the ring-core PSCF has the smaller MFD compared to that of a step-core PSCF having the same Aeff. We actually fabricate ring-core PSCF having the enlarged Aeff of 135μm^2, low transmission loss of 0.160dB/km, and improved dissimilar splice loss of 0.18dB/facet to SSMF.
