Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, mode division multiplexing (MDM) transmission over a multi-mode fiber is attracting much attention as a solution for the Capacity Crunch of single mode fiber (SMF). Multi-input multi-output (MIMO) signal processing is used to resolve the inter-modal coupling. However, the complexity of the MIMO processing is exponentially increasing depending on the inter-modal dispersion. In this paper, we analytically investigate the required computational complexity for MIMO processing in the MDM transmission over two mode fibers (2MF) having the step-index and graded-index profile.
