Abstract(in English) Standardization of a nutation test, which is used to estimate mechanical durability of an optical fiber cable when optical fiber cable is pulled obliquely, has been discussed in IEC TC86/SC86B. In this paper, we clarify the tensile force required for the nutation test. We then use the nutation test method to evaluate the mechanical durability of LC connector which is used for optical module interface such as an SFP module. The obtained results enable us to enhance the mechanical durability of the LC connectors.
