Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Titanium oxide (TiO_2) nanotubes have attracted great interest as nanomaterials for solar cells, gas sensors and so on. In this study, we fabricated TiO_2 nanotube films on substrates by anodization. Since structural properties of nanotubes depend strongly on anodization conditions such as the composition of electrolyte and the anodic potential, it is important to evaluate influences of them. Although it has been revealed that water dissolved in the organic electrolyte has significant effects on the shape of anodic TiO_2 nanotubes, the influence of water dissolved in the electrolyte on the anodization process of Ti is not fully understood. In this study, we have studied TiO_2 nanotubes formed by anodizing a metallic Ti film deposited on a silicon dioxide layer in an ethylene glycol solution of water and ammonium fluoride (NH_4F). We have systematically examined the influence of water and NH_4F contents on the nanotube formation and the morphology of formed nanotubes. In the result, it was suggested that the ratio of the NH_4F concentration to the water concentration is an important factor that influences the formation process of anodic TiO_2 nanotubes.
