Abstract(in English) The recent pervasion of the progressive download-based video services enhances the importance of the playback quality monitoring. The playback quality of the progressive download-based video mainly depends on the re-buffering time due to the buffer starvation. Therefore, we have to estimate the temporal amount of data in the buffer accurately. In the preceding papers, we have investigated the estimation of the playback state of the progressive download-based video making use of the packet capture data. The main feature of our method consists of the play-out buffer modeling, including the parameter estimation of the model, and the playback quality estimation by making use of the packet capture data as an input into the buffer model. However, it does not take the pause state initiated by users into account. Consequently, it was difficult to distinguish the buffer starvation from the pause state initiated by users. In the present report, we propose a method of playback state estimation including the pause state initiated by users. It enables us to distinguish the buffer starvation from the pause state initiated by users.
