Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) have attracted considerable attention in recent years. In WMNs, many Access Points (APs) are redundantly allocated to the given space to improve their fault tolerance. However, too redundant APs are not only usually unnecessary but also cause an increase of the running cost and the occurrence of radio wave interferences. Thus, we need to control WMNs so that the operation of unnecessary APs is temporarily suspended. In this paper, we consider the problem of selecting as many unnecessary APs as possible, without increasing the hop-count to the gateway. The proposed scheme tries to enlarge the set of selected APs, in contrast to existing schemes such as the scheme proposed by Shimizu et al. for a similar problem. The performance of the proposed method is experimentally evaluated by simulation.
