Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The dirty paper channel [Costa, 1982] is a point-to-point interference-limited channel whereby perfect knowledge about the additive interference is non-causally available to the transmitter. The question is then, how best to use this side information so as to maximize the channel capacity. Interference is traditionally thought of as an impediment that limits the performance of wireless communications. It has therefore been suggested that the side-informed transmitter uses such knowledge to pre-cancel the interference prior to transmitting the desired signal, a strategy commonly known as dirty paper coding. Contrarily in this work, it is shown that the interfering signal, independent from the useful signal as it may be, can be viewed as the useful signal undergoing a different channel. Thus, a novel precoding approach called interference complementation is introduced whereby it is suggested that the transmitter complements the interference such that both the interference and the transmitted signal are perceived, by the receiver, as the desired signal. An application of the proposed-scheme is provided to support cell-edge receivers in Network-MIMO-assisted cellular networks, and is implemented by means of Tomlinson-Harashima Precoding (THP).
