Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Network Coding is a different paradigm for routing, where intermediate nodes transform incoming packets as they are routed through the network. This provides significant benefits for multicast networks, since redundancy in network topologies can be used to deliver contents from several sources efficiently, if compared to the traditional store and forward mechanism. However, guaranteeing in networks using network coding is significantly harder, since traditional authentication primitives need to withstand the valid transformations occurring in the network. Even though these primitives are available in the literature, they are computationally intensive; therefore, blacklisting nodes introducing fake packets in the network, becomes crucial for the successful deployment of network coding in real scenarios; otherwise attackers could exhaust network resources by flooding the network with packets that require an expensive verification routine. We present in this article a cooperative approach to blacklist attackers in a network coded network, which combines traditional authentication mechanisms with network coding ones. Our construction is based on aggregate message authentication codes (MACs) and Merkle trees.
