Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Physical Layer Network Coding (PLNC) is an attractive means to improve throughput of wireless multi-hop networks. However, most of the existing works on PLNC are based on a simple 3-node model, and they do not take into account the impact of interference signals caused by neighboring nodes. Therefore, in this paper, we investigate the effectiveness of PLNC with the existence of interfering nodes. We first analyze spatial capacity achieved by PLNC theoretically and compare it with a conventional relay and direct transmission. Then, we propose a distributed MAC protocol for PLNC to be applied to a multi-hop network, which is employed in computer simulations evaluating throughput of PLNC. With the obtained numerical results, we discuss how the interfering nodes affect the spatial capacity and throughput achieved by PLNC.
